Know the Monstera Plant: Features and Benefits

The Giant Monstera Plant has become a beloved indoor plant with one of the most stunning aesthetics and its ability to complement every type of indoor decor. Here’s a few key features and benefits of this tropical beauty:

1. Distinctive Appearance

The Monstera Deliciosa plant, also known as the “Swiss Cheese plant,” boasts large, glossy leaves with unique splits and holes, adding a touch of tropical elegance to any space. The fenestrations add greatly to the charm of the plant and the elegance it brings to any space that it may grace. Its aesthetic versatility also makes it a great addition to offices and homes alike.

2. Versatile Growth Habit

With proper support, the Swiss Cheese plant can climb and sprawl, making it adaptable to various setups such as hanging baskets, trellises, or as a standalone floor plant.

3. Air Purification

Much like many indoor plants, this huge Monstera Plant also helps improve air quality by filtering out toxins and pollutants, promoting a healthier indoor environment. Commonly found pollutants such as benzene, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene, that are found in regularly used household and cleaning products such as detergents and other solutions, are filtered out by the Monstera plant with ease.

4. Easy Maintenance

Once you know what it needs, the giant Monstera Deliciosa is a fairly easy indoor plant to care for. While not entirely low maintenance, it can still be fuss-free and easy to manage if you give it what it needs before it starts feeling neglected. With the right kind of knowledge about Monstera plant care, you will be able to grow and help your different types of Monstera plants thrive.

Large Monstera Plant Care: Basics Care Tips to Follow

This plant needs at least a little bit of gardening experience on the gardener’s behalf in order to be well taken care of. So, here are some things for you to know about its basic care requirements:

1. Light Requirements

Place your giant Monstera plant in bright, indirect light to promote optimal growth. You must avoid harsh, direct sunlight during hot afternoons, as it can scorch the leaves. However, you can position the plant in such a way that it will receive soft, direct light on its foliage during early morning and the later part of the evening.

2. Watering

This large Monstera plant prefers well-aerated and slightly moist soil. So, you must allow the soil to partially dry out between watering sessions and then water it thoroughly. Ensure adequate drainage to prevent water logging as excess water can lead to root rot. Always use a pot with adequate drainage holes so that when you water your plant, the excess can drip away, leaving behind only what the plant needs.

3. Humidity Requirements

As a tropical plant, the large Cheese Plant thrives in environments with high humidity. So, mist its leaves on a daily basis to keep it moist or place a humidifier nearby to maintain required moisture levels. If you are unable to mist the leaves every day or use a humidifier, you can place a tray of water, filled with pebbles, near the plant. This will allow the water to evaporate and reach the leaves, creating an environment of optimal humidity.

4. Fertilization

The active growing seasons of the Monstera Deliciosa plant are during the spring and monsoon months. So, during this time, it will require adequate feed and balanced fertilization. To ensure the availability of this, provide your Monstera plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer, diluted in water. Fertilize it during the day and not at nighttime. The proper time to wait between fertilization sessions ideally would be a month – meaning you should fertilize this plant once every month.

5. Pruning

Pruning is vital for any plant’s continued good health as it allows for better air circulation and provides a non-suffocating environment for the plant to grow in. In case of the Monstera, you must remember to prune yellowing or dead leaves, allowing for better air flow and to maintain the shape and size of the plant without promoting excessive growth.

FAQs

How do I place a bulk/coporate order?
For all the bulk/corporate orders, please contact hello@airifier.com
Why not use a fancy rigid box instead of a corrugated one when shipping this product?
To begin with, our corrugated box is of excellent quality and has numerous artworks on it. Therefore, it doesn't appear any less elegant. Our goal is packaging that is as environmentally friendly as it can be. We do not like to utilise rigid boxes because they require more paper and a lot of chemicals to manufacture. There is always a more environmentally friendly choice available: corrugated.

Where to place monstera in house?
Monsteras love a bright spot with indirect sunlight—think an east- or west-facing window that lets in natural light. Be careful with direct sun, as it can scorch those beautiful leaves! Keep it cozy by avoiding cold drafts and maintaining a comfortable room temperature.
Does Monstera clean the air?
Definitely it does clean the air! The Monstera Deliciosa isn’t just eye-catching; it’s also great for improving indoor air quality by filtering out common toxins. With its large, vibrant leaves, it’s a perfect blend of function and beauty!
Can I cut off Monstera roots?
Yes, you can trim Monstera roots—especially the aerial ones! These roots help the plant climb, so it's best to let them grow into the soil or attach them to a moss pole for support. But if they’re getting too long or looking a little wild, feel free to trim them back—just be gentle to avoid stressing the plant!
How do I make my Monstera bushier?
To help your Monstera grow bushier, regularly trim any long stems, make sure it gets adequate light, and support it with a trellis or stake. By pinching back the new growth tips, you'll promote the development of new shoots from the nodes, making the plant fuller and more compact.
